Maurice was born on 31 March 1920 in King’s Norton, Worcestershire to Joseph Rosenberg and Winifred née Tilley. The family changed their surname from Rosenberg to Rose before 1939.
Maurice’s AJEX card states that he was training at No 2 Wing, Yatesbury followed by No 7 Bombing & Gunnery school in Porthcawl.
Maurice was the wireless operator/air gunner on Whitley P5082 which departed RAF Linton on Ouse on a night operation to Bremen. The aircraft went down in the North Sea 20 miles off Aberdeen after a successful raid.
